Paul advice and instruction's above really made it super easy to set my QAD Ultra rest up. Couple of things I would like to stress is:
1. Use the TL-1 prong. I overlooked it and was baffled for a minute or two. (o.k. more like 15 minutes) why it's not working out.

2. Make sure the timing cord is about level with the bottom of your grip. I had mine to high, (more like about half way across the grip.) well, my rest wasn't getting out of the way quick enough. Problems solved once I moved the cord down as I say.

Paul instruction's work perfect, It was my fault overlooking these two items.

Bottom line, I think the QAD Ultra rest is a fine drop-away, I'm pleased. However, there are also many other good choices for FOBs.

By-the-way, Thanks so much Paul for the detailed instructions you provided. You made it easy to understand and the photo's really helped as well.

I am fixing to install a LD Pro model on my Ross right now....just got it from the mailman.  Grin
Hopefully it works just as well as the Ripcord, I REALLY like the Ripcord and the only reason I bought the QAD qas for the APG camo to match my Cardiac.

Well I threw the enclosed CD into my laptop I have in my archery room, sat down with the bow in my lap and "got r' done"....
Real easy
, nothing to it once you swap out to the TL forks as mentioned above.

I left the clamp on it for now but, will serve in a colored cord after I shoot these brand new Bucknasty string/cables in some to break em in.

Why is the TL1 fork used with the QAD?  If I'm not mistaken that fork is taller (holds arrow higher above shelf).  That doesn't cause contact issues with the capture bar on top?

Thanks,
Mark

It holds the arrow higher above the rest but there is still enough room below the bar if it is adjusted right.  I have never tried the rest with the shorter launcher but it is a hard rest to tune.

Since my bow is tuned with the lower fork, I may see how that works (unless someone knows it definately wont work).  I'll report back if the lower fork works; if not, I'll just switch to the TL1.

Thanks,
Mark

Back for a report on the lower fork (not the TL1).  It does work; if you have the timing set correctly for your QAD.  I can see why the TL1 is recommended.  With either fork, there is plenty of clearance below the capture bar.  However, with the TL1 you have more clearance above the forks in the down position.

Verdict:
If you just bought a QAD, set it up with the TL1.  If your bow is already set up with the lower fork (non-TL1), give it a try.  Just make sure you have the clearance with the clear slider that comes with the set.  The timing has to be correct also.  I'm a stickler for tuning and have been doing it for many years, but the QAD is one of the easiest rest to set up for timing.

Good luck - and it's a fabulous system with the FOB!

Lots of good info here! I'm waiting for my QAD HD to arrive, already received my Fobs. I plan to set it up early next week, the tips provided here will certainly save me trial and error time. Thanks!!

My QAD HD arrived today! 10 mins installation, 15 mins paper tuning and 3" groups at 50 yds! WOW i'm impressed. The QAD and the Fobs are a great combo. I can't wait to try some broadheads. I was fighting some 20-30 mi/hr crosswinds and still shot great. My only complaint is that now I have 2 doz axis shafts that need the fletchings stripped. Grin

Yeah the Fobs and Qad rest worked out better than I first thought. I shot some broadheads and they shot right along with my field points. Then I tried some old Thunderheads that I had given up on years ago. The Thunderheads shot beautiful @ 50 yds! Thunderheads were shooting 4" groups @ 50 yds with a nasty crosswind. I ordered a new5 pin sight when I saw the groups. Out here 40-60 yd shots are the norm (unless you are in a tree stand). I'M PUMPED!!
